Cat's Cradle

(illustrated by Chris's mother Pen)

Cats Cradle -
Illness

Postmarks fade,
Bed Unmade,
Trees freeze
Through the window pane.
Each afternoon
The West Front of the Cathedral
Limbers up for another millennium,
Renovation, stonemasons on the North Face,
Cat's Cradle. Hallucination.
I walk and walk,
Onwards, to an invisible horizon,
Who knows, perhaps, where there are towers too.
